創世記-Genesis 第 44 章

44:1	約瑟吩咐家宰說，把糧食裝滿這些人的袋子，盡他們所能帶的，又把各人的銀子放在各人的袋口； And he commanded him who was over his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's silver in the mouth of his sack.
44:2	並將我的銀杯，和那最年幼的買糧的銀子，一同裝在他的袋口。家宰就照約瑟所說的話行了。 And put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest with his silver for the grain. And he did so, according to the word that Joseph had spoken.
44:3	早晨天一亮，就打發那些人帶著驢走了。 As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their donkeys.
44:4	他們出城走了不遠，約瑟對家宰說，起來，追那些人去，追上了就對他們說，你們為什麼以惡報善？ When they had just gone out of the city and were not yet far off, Joseph said to him who was over his house, Rise up, follow after the men; and when you overtake them, say to them, Why have you repaid evil for good?
44:5	這不是我主人飲酒的杯麼？豈不是他占卜用的麼？你們這樣行是作惡了。 Is not this that from which my lord drinks, and which he indeed uses for divining? You have done wrong in so doing.
44:6	家宰追上他們，將這些話對他們說了。 And he overtook them and spoke these words to them.
44:7	他們回答說，我主為什麼說這樣的話？你仆人斷不會作這樣的事。 And they said to him, Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants to do such a thing.
44:8	你看，我們從前在袋口裏所發現的銀子，尚且從迦南地帶來還你，我們怎能從你主人家裏偷竊金銀呢？ See how we brought back to you the silver which we found in the mouth of our sacks from the land of Canaan. How then could we steal silver or gold out of your lord's house?
44:9	在你仆人中，無論從誰那裏搜出來，就叫他死，我們也作我主的奴仆。 With whomever of your servants it is found, let him die; and we ourselves will become my lord's slaves.
44:10	家宰說，現在就照你們的話行罷。從誰那裏搜出來，誰就作我的奴仆，你們其餘的都沒有罪。 And he said, Now also let it be according to your words: He with whom it is found will be my slave; and the rest of you will be blameless.
44:11	於是他們各人急忙把袋子卸在地上，各人打開自己的袋子。 Then each man hurried and lowered his sack to the ground, and each man opened his sack.
44:12	家宰就搜查，從最年長的起，到最年幼的為止，那杯竟在便雅憫的袋子裏搜出來。 And he searched, beginning with the oldest and ending with the youngest; and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.
44:13	他們就撕裂衣服，各人把馱子抬在驢上，回城去了。 Then they tore their garments, and each man loaded his donkey, and they returned to the city.
44:14	猶大和他弟兄們來到約瑟的屋中，約瑟還在那裏，他們就在他麵前俯伏於地。 And Judah and his brothers came to Joseph's house, and he was still there; and they fell to the ground before him.
44:15	約瑟對他們說，你們作的是什麼事？你們豈不知像我這樣的人必能占卜麼？ And Joseph said to them, What deed is this that you have done? Do you not know that such a man as I can indeed divine?
44:16	猶大說，我們能對我主說什麼？還能說什麼呢？我們怎能表白自己？神已經查出你仆人們的罪孽了。我們與那在他手中搜出杯來的，都是我主的奴仆。 And Judah said, What can we say to my lord? What can we speak? And how can we justify ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants. Here we are, my lord's slaves, both we and the one in whose hand the cup has been found.
44:17	約瑟說，我斷不能這樣行。在誰的手中搜出杯來，誰就作我的奴仆；至於你們其餘的人，可以平平安安的上你們父親那裏去。 But he said, Far be it from me to do this. The man in whose hand the cup has been found, he will be my slave; but as for the rest of you, go up in peace to your father.
44:18	猶大挨近他，說，我主阿，求你讓仆人說一句話給我主聽，不要向仆人發烈怒，因為你如同法老一樣。 Then Judah came near to him and said, Please, my lord, let your servant speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not your anger burn against your servant; for you are even as Pharaoh.
44:19	我主曾問仆人們說，你們有父親、有兄弟沒有？ My lord asked his servants, saying, Do you have a father or a brother?
44:20	我們對我主說，我們有年老的父親，還有他老年所生的一個小孩子。他哥哥死了，他母親隻撇下他一個人，他父親疼愛他。 And we said to my lord, We have an old father and a young child of his old age; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loves him.
44:21	你對仆人們說，把他帶下來到我這裏，叫我可以親眼看看他。 And you said to your servants, Bring him down to me, that I may set my eyes on him.
44:22	我們對我主說，少年人不能離開他父親，若是離開，他父親必會死。 And we said to my lord, The boy cannot leave his father; for if he should leave his father, his father would die.
44:23	你對仆人說，你們最小的弟弟若不與你們一同下來，你們就不得再見我的麵。 And you said to your servants, Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you shall see my face no more.
44:24	我們上到你仆人我們父親那裏，就把我主的話告訴了他。 And when we went up to your servant my father, we told him my lord's words.
44:25	我們的父親說，你們再去給我們買一點糧食來。 And our father said, Return, buy us a little food.
44:26	但我們說，我們不能下去。我們最小的弟弟若與我們同往，我們就下去。因為最小的弟弟若不與我們同往，我們必不得見那人的麵。 But we said, We cannot go down. If our youngest brother is with us, we will go down; for we cannot see the man's face unless our youngest brother is with us.
44:27	你仆人我父親對我們說，你們知道我的妻子給我生了兩個兒子。 And your servant my father said to us, You know that my wife bore me two sons;
44:28	一個離開我去了，我說他必是被撕碎了，直到如今我沒有見到他。 And the one went away from me, and I said, Surely he has been torn to pieces; and I have not seen him to this day.
44:29	現在你們又要把這個帶去離開我，倘若他遭害，那便是你們使我白發蒼蒼、悲悲慘慘的下陰間去了。 And if you take this one also from me and harm befalls him, you will bring down my gray hairs in misery to Sheol.
44:30	我父親的命與這少年人的命相連。如今我回到你仆人我父親那裏，若沒有少年人與我們同在， Now therefore when I come to your servant my father, and the boy is not with us, and his life being bound up in the boy's life,
44:31	我們的父親見沒有少年人，他就必死。這便是我們使你仆人我們的父親白發蒼蒼、悲悲慘慘的下陰間去了。 When he sees that the boy is not with us, he will die; and your servants will bring down the gray hairs of your servant our father in sorrow to Sheol.
44:32	因為仆人曾向我父親為這少年人作保，說，我若不帶他回來交給你，我便永遠在父親麵前擔罪。 For your servant became surety for the lad to my father, saying, If I do not bring him to you, then I shall bear the blame of sinning before my father forever.
44:33	現在求你讓仆人留下，替這少年人作我主的奴仆，叫他和哥哥們一同上去。 Now therefore, please let your servant remain as a slave to my lord instead of the boy, and let the boy go up with his brothers.
44:34	若這少年人不和我同去，我怎能上去見我父親？我怕看見災禍臨到我父親身上。 For how shall I go up to my father if the boy is not with me? I fear to see the evil that would come on my father.
