箴言-Proverbs 第 14 章

14:1智慧婦人建立家室；愚妄婦人親手拆毀。
The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.
14:2行動正直的，敬畏耶和華；行事乖僻的，卻藐視祂。
He who walks in his uprightness fears Jehovah, But he who is perverse in his ways despises Him.
14:3愚妄人口中驕傲，如杖責打己身；智慧人的嘴必保守自己。
In the mouth of a fool is a rod for his pride, But the lips of the wise will preserve them.
14:4家裏無牛，槽頭幹淨；但出產加多，乃憑牛力。
Where no oxen are, the manger is clean, But much increase comes by the strength of the ox.
14:5忠信的見證人不說謊話；假見證人吐出謊言。
A faithful witness will not lie, But a false witness utters lies.
14:6褻慢人尋找智慧，卻尋不著；聰明人輕易得著知識。
A scoffer seeks wisdom and finds none, But knowledge comes easily to one who has understanding.
14:7當離開愚昧人的麵，因為你不見他嘴中有知識。
Go from the presence of a foolish man, For you will not perceive in him the lips of knowledge.
14:8精明人的智慧在乎明白自己的道路；愚昧人的愚妄乃是詭詐。
The wisdom of the prudent man is to understand his way, But the folly of fools is deceit.
14:9贖愆祭譏誚愚妄人，正直人卻互相喜悅。
A trespass offering mocks fools, But among the upright there is good will.
14:10心中的苦楚自己知道，心裏的喜樂外人無分。
The heart knows its own bitterness, And a stranger does not share in its joy.
14:11奸惡人的房屋必倒毀；正直人的帳棚必興盛。
The house of the wicked will be destroyed, But the tent of the upright will flourish.
14:12有一條路，人以為正，至終卻是死亡之路。
There is a way which seems right to a man, But the end of it is the ways of death.
14:13人在喜笑中，心也傷痛；快樂至極就是愁苦。
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, And the end of joy is grief.
14:14心中退後的，必飽得自己行徑的結果；善人必從自己得滿足。
The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, And a good man will be satisfied from himself.
14:15愚蒙人凡話都信；精明人步步慎思。
The simple man believes every word, But the prudent man considers his steps.
14:16智慧人懼怕，就遠離惡事；愚昧人卻狂傲自恃。
A wise man fears and departs from evil, But the fool is arrogant and is confident.
14:17急躁易怒的，行事愚昧；設詭計的，被人恨惡。
He who is quick to anger will deal foolishly, And a man of wicked devices is hated.
14:18愚蒙人得愚妄為產業；精明人得知識為冠冕。
The simple inherit folly, But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
14:19壞人俯伏在善人麵前，惡人俯伏在義人門口。
The evil bow down before the good, And the wicked, at the gates of the righteous man.
14:20貧窮人連鄰舍也恨他；富足人有許多朋友。
The poor man is hated even by his own neighbor, But the rich man has many friends.
14:21藐視鄰舍的，這人有罪；恩待貧窮的，這人快樂。
He who despises his neighbor sins, But happy is he who is gracious to the poor.
14:22謀惡的，豈非走入迷途麼？謀善的，必得慈愛和真實。
Do not they who devise evil go astray? But lovingkindness and truth are with those who devise good.
14:23諸般勞苦必有利益；嘴上徒言乃致窮乏。
In all labor there is profit, But mere talk leads only to poverty.
14:24智慧人的冠冕乃是他們的財富；愚昧人的愚妄終是愚妄。
The crown of the wise is their riches, But the folly of fools is only folly.
14:25作真見證的，救人性命；吐出謊言的，施行詭詐。
A truthful witness delivers souls, But he who utters lies causes deceit.
14:26敬畏耶和華的，有堅固的倚靠，他的兒女也有避難所。
In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence, And his children will have a place of refuge.
14:27敬畏耶和華是生命的泉源，可以使人離開死亡的網羅。
The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, That one may turn aside from the snares of death.
14:28帝王榮耀在於民多；君王衰敗在於民少。
In a multitude of people is the king's glory, But in an absence of people is the ruin of the prince.
14:29不輕易發怒的，大有聰明；靈裏暴躁的，大顯愚妄。
He who is slow to anger is of great understanding, But he who has a hasty spirit exalts folly.
14:30心中安靜是肉體的生命；嫉妒是骨中的朽爛。
A tranquil heart is life to the flesh, But envy is rottenness to the bones.
14:31欺壓貧寒的，是辱沒造他的主；恩待窮乏的，乃是尊敬主。
He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, But he who is gracious to the needy honors Him.
14:32惡人在自己的惡行上，必被推倒；義人臨死，有所投靠。
The wicked man is thrust down in his evildoing, But the righteous man has a refuge when he dies.
14:33智慧安居在聰明人心中；愚昧人內裏所存的，顯而易見。
Wisdom rests quietly in the heart of one who has understanding, But in the inward part of fools it makes itself known.
14:34公義使邦國高舉；罪惡是人民的羞辱。
Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.
14:35明智的臣子蒙王恩惠；貽羞的仆人遭其盛怒。
The king's favor is toward a servant who acts prudently, But his overflowing wrath will be toward him who causes shame.
