羅馬書-Romans 第 9 章

9:1我在基督裏說真話,並不說謊,有我的良心在聖靈裏同我作見證,
I speak the truth in Christ, I do not lie, my conscience bearing witness with me in the Holy Spirit,
9:2我是大有憂愁,心裏不住的傷痛。
That I have great grief and unceasing pain in my heart.
9:3為我弟兄,我肉身的親人,我寧願自己被咒詛,與基督分離。
For I could wish that I myself were a curse, separated from Christ for my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh,
9:4他們是以色列人,那兒子的名分、榮耀、諸約、律法的頒賜、事奉和應許,都是他們的;
Who are Israelites, whose are the sonship and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the law and the service and the promises;
9:5列祖是他們的,按肉體說,基督也是出於他們的,祂是在萬有之上,永遠受頌讚的神。阿們。
Whose are the fathers, and out of whom, as regards what is according to flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.
9:6但這不是說,神的話落了空,因為從以色列生的,不都是以色列人;
But it is not as though the word of God has fallen away, for not all who are out of Israel are Israel;
9:7也不因為是亞伯拉罕的後裔,就都是兒女,惟獨“從以撒生的,才要稱為你的後裔。”
Neither is it that because they are the seed of Abraham, they are all children; but, "In Isaac shall your seed be called,''
9:8這就是說,肉體的兒女不就是神的兒女,惟獨那應許的兒女才算是後裔。
That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are accounted as the seed.
9:9因為所應許的話是這樣:“到明年這時候我要來,撒拉必生一個兒子。”
For this is the word of promise, "At this time next year I will come, and Sarah shall have a son.''
9:10不但如此,還有利百加,既從一個人,就是從我們的祖宗以撒懷了孕,
And not only so, but Rebecca also, having conceived by one, Isaac our father,
9:11雙子還沒有生下來,善惡也沒有作出來,(隻因要堅定神揀選人的旨意,不是本於行為,乃是本於那呼召人的,)
Though the children had not yet been born nor had done anything good or bad (that the purpose of God according to selection might remain, not of works but of Him who calls),
9:12神就對利百加說,“將來大的要服事小的。”
It was said to her, "The greater shall serve the less'';
9:13正如經上所記:“雅各是我所愛的,以掃是我所恨的。”
As it is written, "Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.''
9:14這樣,我們可說什麼?難道在神有不義麼?絕對沒有!
What then shall we say? Is there unrighteousness with God? Absolutely not!
9:15因為祂對摩西說,“我要向誰施憐憫,就向誰施憐憫;要對誰動憐恤,就對誰動憐恤。”
For to Moses He says, "I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.''
9:16這樣看來,這不在於那定意的,也不在於那奔跑的,隻在於那施憐憫的神。
So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.
9:17因為經上對法老說,“我特意將你興起來,為要在你身上顯示我的權能,並要使我的名傳遍全地。”
For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very thing I have raised you up, that I might show in you My power, and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.''
9:18這樣看來,神願意向誰施憐憫,就向誰施憐憫;願意叫誰剛硬,就叫誰剛硬。
So then He has mercy on whom He wills, and He hardens whom He wills.
9:19這樣,你必對我說,祂為什麼還指責人?有誰抗拒祂的旨意?
You will say to me then, Why does He still find fault? For who withstands His will?
9:20人哪,你是誰,竟向神頂嘴?被塑造者豈能對塑造他者說,你為什麼這樣造我?
But rather, O man, who are you who answer back to God? Shall the thing molded say to him who molded it, Why did you make me thus?
9:21窯匠難道沒有權柄,從同一團泥裏,拿一塊作成貴重的器皿,又拿一塊作成卑賤的器皿麼?
Or does not the potter have authority over the clay to make out of the same lump one vessel unto honor and another unto dishonor?
9:22若是神願意顯示祂的忿怒,彰顯祂的能力,就多用恒忍寬容那些可怒、預備遭毀滅的器皿,
And what if God, wishing to demonstrate His wrath and make His power known, endured with much long-suffering vessels of wrath fitted for destruction,
9:23且要在那些蒙憐憫、早預備得榮耀的器皿上,彰顯祂榮耀的豐富;
In order that He might make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He had before prepared unto glory,
9:24這器皿就是我們這蒙祂所召的,不但從猶太人中,也從外邦人中,這有什麼不可?
Even us, whom He has also called, not only from among the Jews but also from among the Gentiles?
9:25就如神在何西阿書上也說,“那本來不是我子民的,我要稱為我的子民;本來不是蒙愛的,我要稱為蒙愛的;
As He also says in Hosea, "I will call those who were not My people My people, and her who was not beloved beloved;
9:26從前在什麼地方對他們說,你們不是我的子民,將來就在那裏稱他們為活神的兒子。”
And it shall be that in the place where it was said to them, You are not My people, there shall they be called sons of the living God.''
9:27以賽亞指著以色列人喊著:“以色列子孫的數目雖如海沙,得救的不過是剩下的餘數;
And Isaiah cries concerning Israel, "Though the number of the sons of Israel be like the sand of the sea, it is the remnant that shall be saved;
9:28因為主要在地上實行祂的話,要將祂的話完成且截短。”
For the Lord will execute His word upon the earth, accomplishing it and cutting it short.''
9:29又如以賽亞先前說過,“若不是萬軍之主給我們存留餘種,我們早已成了所多瑪,並像蛾摩拉的樣子了。”
And as Isaiah has previously said, "Unless the Lord of hosts had left us a seed, we would have become like Sodom and been made like Gomorrah.''
9:30這樣,我們可說什麼?那未曾追求義的外邦人,反得著了義,就是本於信的義。
What then shall we say? That the Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have laid hold of righteousness, but a righteousness which is out of faith;
9:31但那追求律法之義的以色列人,並未達到那律法。
But Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not attain to that law.
9:32這是為什麼?因為不是本於信,而是本於行。他們正碰跌在那絆腳石上,
Why? Because they pursued it not out of faith, but as it were out of works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling,
9:33就如經上所記:“看哪,我在錫安放一塊絆腳的石頭,並跌人的磐石,信靠祂的,必不至於羞愧。”
As it is written, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling, a rock of offense, and he who believes on Him shall not be put to shame.''
