民數記-Numbers 第 13 章

13:1耶和華對摩西說，
Then Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
13:2你打發人去窺探我所賜給以色列人的迦南地，他們每宗族支派中要打發一個人，都要作首領的。
Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel; one man from each of their fathers' tribes you shall send, every one a leader among them.
13:3摩西就照耶和華的吩咐，從巴蘭的曠野打發他們去；他們都是以色列人的首領。
So Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the commandment of Jehovah, all of them leading men among the children of Israel.
13:4他們的名字如下：屬流便支派的，是撒刻的兒子沙母亞；
And these were their names: from the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur;
13:5屬西緬支派的，是何利的兒子沙法；
From the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori;
13:6屬猶大支派的，是耶孚尼的兒子迦勒；
From the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh;
13:7屬以薩迦支派的，是約色的兒子以迦；
From the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph;
13:8屬以法蓮支派的，是嫩的兒子何西阿；
From the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Nun;
13:9屬便雅憫支派的，是拉孚的兒子帕提；
From the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu;
13:10屬西布倫支派的，是梭底的兒子迦疊；
From the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi;
13:11屬約瑟支派的，就是屬瑪拿西支派的，是穌西的兒子迦底；
From the tribe of Joseph, that is, from the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi;
13:12屬但支派的，是基瑪利的兒子亞米利；
From the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli;
13:13屬亞設支派的，是米迦勒的兒子西帖；
From the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael;
13:14屬拿弗他利支派的，是縛西的兒子拿比；
From the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi;
13:15屬迦得支派的，是瑪基的兒子臼利。
From the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.
13:16這些就是摩西打發去窺探那地之人的名字。摩西稱嫩的兒子何西阿為約書亞。
These are the names of the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun Joshua.
13:17摩西打發他們去窺探迦南地，對他們說，你們從這裏上南地，然後上山地去，
And when Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, he said to them, Go up this way into the Negev, and go up into the hill country;
13:18看那地如何，其中所住的民是強是弱，是多是少，
And see what the land is like; and whether the people who live in it are strong or weak, whether they are few or many;
13:19他們所住之地是好是壞，所住之處是營盤是堅城，
And whether the land in which they dwell is good or bad; and whether the cities that they live in are like camps or with fortifications;
13:20那地是肥美是貧瘠，其中有樹木沒有。你們要壯膽，把那地的果子帶些來。那時正是葡萄初熟的時候。
And whether the land is fat or lean; whether there are trees in it or not. Therefore strengthen yourselves and bring some of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the first ripe grapes.
13:21他們就上去窺探那地，從尋的曠野到利合，靠近哈馬口。
So they went up and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, near the entrance of Hamath.
13:22他們從南地上去，到了希伯侖；在那裏有亞衲人的後代亞希幔、示篩、撻買。(原來希伯侖城比埃及的鎖安城早建七年。)
And when they had gone up through the Negev, they came to Hebron; and Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, were there. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)
13:23他們到了以實各穀，從那裏砍了葡萄樹的一枝，上頭有一掛葡萄，兩個人用杠抬著，又帶了些石榴和無花果來。
Then they came to the Valley of Eshcol, and from there they cut down a branch with a single cluster of grapes; and they carried it on a pole between two of them. They also cut off some of the pomegranates and some of the figs.
13:24因為以色列人從那裏砍來的那掛葡萄，所以那地方叫作以實各穀。
That place was called the Valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the children of Israel cut down from there.
13:25過了四十天，他們窺探那地回來，
And they returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days.
13:26到了巴蘭曠野的加低斯，來見摩西、亞倫、並以色列人全會眾，回報摩西、亞倫、並全會眾，又把那地的果子給他們看；
And they proceeded to come to Moses and to Aaron and to the whole assembly of the children of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word to them and to the whole assembly, and showed them the fruit of the land.
13:27又告訴摩西說，我們到了你所打發我們去的那地，果然是流奶與蜜之地；這就是那地的果子。
And they told him and said, We came to the land into which you sent us; and it indeed flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.
13:28然而住那地的民強壯，城邑也堅固寬大，並且我們在那裏看見了亞衲人的後代。
However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large; and we also saw the descendants of Anak there.
13:29亞瑪力人住在南地，赫人、耶布斯人、亞摩利人住在山地，迦南人住在海邊並約但河沿岸。
The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negev, and the Hittites and the Jebusites and the Amorites dwell in the hill country, and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the Jordan.
13:30迦勒在摩西麵前使百姓安靜，說，我們立刻上去得那地罷，因為我們足能得勝。
But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, Let us go up at once and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
13:31但那些和他同去的人說，我們不能上去攻擊那民，因為他們比我們強壯。
But the men who went up with him said, We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.
13:32那些探子論到所窺探之地，向以色列人報惡信，說，我們所經過、窺探之地，是吞吃居民之地，我們在那裏所看見的人民都身量高大。
And they brought to the children of Israel an evil report of the land which they had spied out, saying, The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eats up its inhabitants; and all the people that we saw in it are men of great size.
13:33我們在那裏看見拿非利人；(亞衲人的子孫就是拿非利人的一支；)我們看自己就如蚱蜢一樣，他們看我們也是如此。
And there we saw the Nephilim (the descendants of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.
