曆代記下-2 Chronicles 第 10 章

10:1	羅波安往示劍去；因為以色列眾人都到了示劍，要立他作王。 Then Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.
10:2	尼八的兒子耶羅波安聽見這事，(那時他在埃及，因他先前躲避所羅門王，逃往那裏；他聽見這事，就從埃及回來； And when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was in Egypt, where he had fled from Solomon the king; and Jeroboam returned from Egypt;
10:3	以色列人打發人去請他來，)他就和以色列眾人來見羅波安，對他說， And they sent word to him and called him), Jeroboam and all of Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,
10:4	你父親使我們負難負的軛；現在求你使你父親要我們作的苦工，並他加在我們身上的重軛輕鬆些，我們就事奉你。 Your father made our yoke hard. Now therefore make the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke that he put upon us lighter, and we will serve you.
10:5	羅波安對他們說，你們暫且去三日，再來見我。民就去了。 And he said to them, Go away for another three days, then return to me. And the people went away.
10:6	羅波安的父親所羅門在世的時候，有侍立在他麵前的老年人，羅波安王和他們商議，說，你們給我出個什麼主意，我好回覆這民。 Then King Rehoboam took counsel with the elders who attended Solomon his father while he was alive, saying, What counsel do you give me to return as an answer to this people?
10:7	老年人對他說，你若善待這民，使他們喜悅，向他們說好話，他們就會永遠作你的仆人。 And they spoke to him, saying, If you will be good to this people and please them and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants always.
10:8	王卻棄絕老年人給他出的主意，反而和那些與他一同長大，在他麵前侍立的少年人商議， But he forsook the counsel of the elders with which they counseled him and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who attended him.
10:9	說，這民對我說，求你使你父親加在我們身上的軛輕鬆些；你們出個什麼主意，我們好回覆他們呢？ And he said to them, What counsel do you give me that we may return an answer to this people who have spoken to me, saying, Lighten the yoke that your father put upon us?
10:10	那些與他一同長大的少年人說，這民對你說，你父親使我們負重軛，求你使我們輕鬆些；你要對他們如此說，我的小拇指比我父親的腰還粗； And the young men who grew up with him spoke with him, saying, Thus shall you say to the people who have spoken to you, saying, Your father made our yoke heavy, but you must make it lighter on us; thus shall you say to them, My little finger is thicker than my father's loins.
10:11	我父親使你們負重軛，我要加重你們的軛；我父親用鞭子責打你們，我要用蠍子鞭責打你們。 And now, whereas my father laid a heavy yoke upon you, I will increase your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
10:12	耶羅波安和眾百姓照著羅波安王所說，你們第三日再來見我的那話，在第三日來了。 And Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day as the king had spoken, saying, Return to me on the third day.
10:13	羅波安王嚴厲的回答他們；他棄絕了老年人所出的主意， And the king answered them harshly; and King Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the elders
10:14	卻照著少年人所出的主意對他們說，我父親使你們負重軛，我要加重你們的軛；我父親用鞭子責打你們，我要用蠍子鞭責打你們。 And spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, I will make your yoke heavy, and I will add to it; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
10:15	王不肯聽從百姓，因這事的轉變乃出於神，為要實現耶和華藉示羅人亞希雅對尼八兒子耶羅波安所說的話。 So the king did not listen to the people, for this turn of events was of God that Jehovah might establish His word which He had spoken through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
10:16	以色列眾人見王不聽從他們，就回覆王說，我們在大衛身上有什麼分呢？我們在耶西的兒子並沒有產業。以色列人哪，各回自己的帳棚去罷。大衛阿，顧你自己的家罷。於是，以色列眾人都往自己的帳棚去了。 And when all Israel saw that the king would not listen to them, the people returned an answer to the king, saying, What portion do we have in David? Neither do we have an inheritance in the son of Jesse. Each one to your tents, O Israel. Now see to your own house, O David. And all Israel went to their tents.
10:17	惟獨住猶大城邑的以色列人，羅波安仍作他們的王。 But as for the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
10:18	羅波安王差遣掌管服苦役之人的哈多蘭往以色列人那裏去，以色列人就用石頭打死他。羅波安王急忙上車，逃到耶路撒冷去了。 Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the forced labor, and the children of Israel stoned him to death. And King Rehoboam made haste to get up into his chariot and flee to Jerusalem.
10:19	這樣，以色列人背叛大衛家，直到今日。 So Israel has rebelled against the house of David until this day.
